Description
Ban on cadmium in brazing alloys
According to Regulation (EU) No 494/2011 of 20 May 2011, the use and placing on the market of brazing alloys with a cadmium content of more than 0.01% by weight is no longer permitted in the EU as of 10 December 2011.
This regulation is binding and applies in every member state of the EU. This means that as of 10 December 2011, silver brazing alloys containing cadmium (e.g. AG306 L-Ag30Cd or AG304 L-Ag40Cd) may no longer be processed. Furthermore, the production of these brazing alloys will also be banned from that date. In the course of this, all manufacturers will stop the production of cadmium-containing brazing alloys in the next few months.
